People often abandon their dogs for the same reasons.

Mostly, they are moving out, and dogs arenโ€™t allowed in their new home. Others set their pets loose on the street because of a medical condition that would cost thousands of dollars when treated, while some leave their pets behind because theyโ€™ve grown old, like Grizzly.

About a month ago, Hope For Paws received a call about a senior dog dumped at a local park in Los Angeles, California. JoAnn Wiltz and Katie McKittrick rushed to the scene to rescue him.

And there, they found an incredibly friendly German Shepherd.

Grizzly sat in the bush, trying to hide from the heat of the sun. He looked sad and confused. He didnโ€™t know why his family abandoned him.

Despite his sadness, Grizzly stood up the moment he saw his rescuers. He walked toward them and said hi. And he enjoyed the head scratches his newfound friends gave him.

Itโ€™s been over a week since Grizzly’s former owners dumped him at the park. Thereโ€™s no saying if he has had food or water for the past few days. But surely, heโ€™s happy now that heโ€™s safe.

The rescuers scanned the senior dog for a microchip, but Grizzly didn’t have one. Whoever left him did not want him anymore.

So the ladies made a promise to provide Grizzly the best home that they can find.

At the rescue, vets determined that Grizzly the German Shepherd suffered from spondylosis and arthritis. He also had chronic and painful ear infections. Thanks to multiple courses of antibiotics, he felt much better in a few days.

Now, Grizzly is in search of a forever home. Heโ€™s not asking much because all he wants is a couch where he can spend the rest of his days.

If you are interested in providing Grizzly a retirement home, kindly reach out to The Lovejoy Foundation.
